Project Title: Shoe Design

Summary: Students will complete standards-based English assignments that explore multiple topics related to shoes while designing and creating their own pair of shoes and display stands.

 

 

Project Title: Build a Boat

Course & Grade Level: Natural Resources & Digital Media CTE, Math, Science, Social Studies, ELA, PE; 9th-12th

Summary: Students will work with master boat builders at Wind & Oar Boat School to complete the project outlined above. Students will enroll in Natural Resources and Digital Media career and technical education (CTE), Math, Science, Social Studies, Language Arts, and Physical Education classes and will have the ability to earn up to 2.5 high school credits in these core subject areas. Students will work collaboratively with one another, master boat builders, and teachers to complete this motivating project.

 

Project Title: Designing Alliance High School

Summary: Students will identify a problem related to the design of the new Alliance High School building. They will learn the process of design thinking and work with partners to solve the problem they identify.

 

Project Title: PhotoVoice

Course & Grade Level: ELA, Fine Arts, Social Studies; 9th-10th

Summary: Students will learn about youth advocacy, basic photography skills, voice, and rhetorical devices and create a series of photographic images and accompanying captions as part of a public group Photovoice exhibit that addresses youth experiences, particularly in alternative education settings.

 

Project Title: Voting Guide for 欧美巨乳色情片 City 2024 Elections

Summary: Students will learn about the new 欧美巨乳色情片 city government structure and the ranked choice voting process. They will research the candidates across each district. Ultimately they will create a voters' guide that explains the new structure, the candidates positions/endorsements, and students' recommendations.

 

Project Title: Art of Persuasion

Summary: Students will select a topic/issue of interest to research and then take action by writing a letter, social media post, email to spread awareness and convince someone in power to act in favor of their position.

 

Project Title:Identity Comics

Course & Grade Level: Social Studies, Math; 7th-12th

Summary: Students will explore themes of identity, intersectionality, and social justice through the medium of comics. They will handle real-life math transactions during visits to comic studios, calculate production costs for their own comics, and present their work at a parent luncheon where they can sell their comics.

 

Project Title: Balsa Rockets

Course & Grade Level: Physical Science; 9th-12th

Summary: Students use the engineering/design process to create a rocket out of balsa wood. They will use their understanding of motion and forces to calculate velocity, acceleration, and the forces involved in a rocket launch. They will develop and test multiple iterations of their design, first with paper, then with balsa wood.

 

Project Title:Dia de Muertos

Summary: Students will create and build authentic altars, honoring a famous person who has passed away.

 

Project Title: Places We Call Home

Summary: Students will interview a first or second grader and use the younger students' details to write and publish a picture book.

 

Project Title: Food Waste & Climate

Summary: After exploring the causes and effects of climate change, students will study climate justice, specifically food waste, and document the path of food waste from their hands back into home gardens (Recology Organics).
